Community Programs For Parents & Children
This page provides information regarding community programs for parents and children offered through Saint Anthony Hospital.
Prenatal Classes
Learn how to take care of yourself and your baby during pregnancy and after birth. Find out what to expect during labor and delivery. Take a tour of the hospital to prepare for your stay. Free classes are offered in Spanish and English.

New Moms Club
Meet other first-time moms and find support. Share ideas for taking care of yourself and dealing with stress. Learn more about your baby’s development in the first year of life. This group is for mothers with newborn infants up to one year of age. Participation is free.

Interactive Play Group
Learn to support your toddler’s development and manage difficult behaviors. Strengthen your relationship with your child and have fun together. This group is for parents with toddlers between one and three years old. Participation is free.

Parent Education Groups
Discover parenting techniques that work with young children. Learn about positive discipline, how to reduce violence in your child’s life, and how to strengthen your relationship with your child. This free class is for parents with young children up to 8 years old.

Developmental Screenings
Receive an assessment of your child’s development. We will also give you suggestions for addressing concerns and help you find more resources for your child. Free screenings can be done for infants beginning as early as one month through 5 years of age.

School Wellness Services
We bring health education and early childhood services to students and their families. Services offered at schools include classes in nutrition, parenting, disease prevention and developmental screenings. We also have a School Partnership Project to provide support and resources to foster long-lasting improvements in school-wide health and safety issues.

All Kids Health Insurance
All Kids is a public benefit program for children and pregnant women in Illinois that offers health insurance to cover medical costs. All Kids can help you pay for doctor visits, hospital care, emergency care, medication, dental care, vision care and more. All children up to the age of 19 are eligible for All Kids.
If you are pregnant, All Kids covers your prenatal care, labor and delivery, and post-partum care.
Receiving All Kids benefits will not affect your immigration status or citizenship application.

Family Care Health Insurance
Family Care is a public benefit program that offers health insurance for eligible parents or guardians who live with their children 18 years old or younger. Family Care can help you pay for doctor visits, hospital care, emergency care, prescription drugs, dental care, vision care and more.
To qualify, you must:
• Live in Illinois
• Be a US citizen or legal permanent resident of 5 years or more
• Meet income requirements
As of July 2009, more parents are now eligible for Family Care!
You may qualify even if you already have insurance through your employer. Or, you may be eligible for money to help you pay for your private insurance.

Food Stamps Assistance (SNAP)
Food Stamps, now known as SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program), is a public benefit that helps you get healthy food for your family. If you qualify, you will receive a LINK Card that you can use to purchase food at most supermarkets.
To qualify, you must:
• Be a US citizen or a legal permanent resident for 5 or more years
• Meet the financial requirements
You can apply for benefits on behalf of a citizen or resident child even if you do not want or do not qualify for Food Stamp benefits.
Receiving Food Stamps benefits will not affect your immigration status or citizenship application.

We can provide you with information about a variety of public benefits, including Medicaid, Food Stamps, WIC and others. If you do not qualify, we can assist you with finding low-cost health care providers and community resources.
